The mill

HISTORY

Agrícola Industrial Forés, S.L. is a family company dedicated to the production and marketing of olive oil with more than half a century of experience and tradition.

The current one is the third generation of an olive growing company that started its activity in 1940, with one of the first hydraulic press mills in Terres de l’Ebre, the southernmost olive growing region of Catalonia.

The facilities, always located in the Raval de Sant Llàtzer de Tortosa, have evolved over time. In 1981, a continuous centrifuge was acquired which was a pioneer in the Terres de l’Ebre and one of the first in Catalonia.

In 2018, the new Molí d’Oli Forés facilities located in Vinallop (Tortosa) were inaugurated. These new and modern facilities will serve to respond to the challenges that today’s society requires from the point of view of quality, service and food safety. The new facilities have the most modern technology for the production of olive oil.

The processes evolve but the essence of the activity remains intact. Agrícola Industrial Forés, S.L. preserves the familiar spirit with which it was founded.

Molí d’Olis Forés olive oils, have been recognized in regional and national competitions. In 2018 he won the award for the Best Oil of Terres de l’Ebre (1) in the framework of the XXXVI Terres de l’Ebre Oil Fair, held in Jesus.

The mill

FACILITIES

The Molí d’Oli Forés is the first private producer of oil in Catalonia. It has the capacity to produce up to 100,000 kilos of oil per day, and has a warehouse with a capacity of up to 800,000 kilos of oil. Its new facilities occupy 3,000 square meters, and it has a staff of up to 10 workers.

These new facilities have the latest technology in the manufacture of olive oil from the point of view of quality and food safety. They are also pioneers in energy saving, the use of renewable energy and respect for the environment.

During the harvesting season, the fruit is processed the same day it is harvested, in order to preserve the organoleptic characteristics and obtain a first quality olive oil.

From the moment the product enters the Forés Oil Mill facilities, it is monitored and thoroughly monitored for quality. Olives are classified according to quality and origin in order to improve the quality of the products obtained.

The Forés Oil Mill has 3 continuous production lines, which makes it possible to obtain up to 3 different qualities of oil simultaneously. The production system of the Forés Oil Mill allows processing up to 500,000 kilos of olives daily. Extra virgin olive oil is extracted only through cold physical procedures.

After the process of obtaining the oil, it is classified by varieties, qualities, origins and analytical parameters, going on to be stored in different tanks and cellars that have temperature control.

In addition, Olis Forés is recognized as an organic oil producer by the Catalan Council for Ecological Agricultural Production (CCPAE).

The product

The oil

The activity of Olis Forés S.L. is developed in one of the regions of Spain with the most olive growing tradition. The varieties specific to the land – the Sevillian olive, Farga and Morruda – make for a soft and balanced oil. These traditional varieties together with the good knowledge of the Molí d’Oli Forés produce an oil with the main positive attributes of sweet and fruity.

In addition, they produce oils of the Arbequina variety, typical of Catalonia, and a variety recognized worldwide for the quality of its oil.

The company manufactures wholesale oil for almost all packers in northern Spain, as well as marketing and retailing oil with its own range of virgin and extra virgin oils.

In recent years, the company has planted its own estates of the Arbossana variety, which allows it to produce a Premium quality olive oil, with perfect traceability, controlling from its planting, agricultural treatments and harvesting, to produce an oil intended for its gourmet brand Molí del Llarg.

The Molí d’Oli Forés is located in Tortosa, in the heart of the Catalan Ebro. The mildness of the climate and the proximity of the river determine ideal conditions for the agricultural work of our hundred-year-old olive trees.

In our area, we have large areas of traditional olive trees, most of which are centuries old, and which form the world’s largest concentration of thousand-year-old olive trees. This unique landscape, together with our Mediterranean climate and the traditional varieties (farga, sevillenca and morruda) produce a unique sweet and fruity oil, highly valued since ancient times for its quality.

In addition to the production of oils with varieties specific to the Terres de l’Ebre (farga, morruda and sevillenca), the company processes olives from the regions of central and northern Spain that produce the sweet and fruity oil characteristic of the Forés Oil Mill.
